Creating smooth and enjoyable holidays for visitors to New Zealand via multiple branded websites and a carefully crafted customer portal
Through hard work and determination, David and Kerry's journey is the genuine internet startup success story.
David started in the tourism industry by personally booking and driving tour groups around New Zealand in his Toyota Land Cruiser. Our first job was a simple ecommerce application attached to Dave's website, so his customers could see which weeks he was available and send dave an email to make a booking.
From there the the web application has evolved to a highly integrated custom software solution which drives the websites for 8 tourism brands and manages all the back end function for thousands of bookings each year.
New Zealand Fine Tours offers multiple brands to cater for different markets and geographic regions. We custom designed and built a content management system for Fine Tours. Fine Tours builds and manages multiple websites from a single platform, each website getting it's own distinct look and feel while reusing complex content.
Product is entered once, then presented on the various websites with minimal modification.
Tours are built up from a series of days. Each day contains multiple activities and accommodation options. Activities are reusable across tours. For example, an activity like 'Auckland Sight Seeing Day Trip' might become part of a 10 Day North Island Tour and a 18 Day Both Island Tour.
Tours have generic content to use on multiple websites as well as custom content for specific brands and target audiences.
To make life a little easier, New Zealand Fine Touring offers a white label service to offshore travel agents selling New Zealand holidays. White Labeling makes it easy for off shore travel agents to advertise a massive range of New Zealand tour options, without having to generate and maintain their own product.
Travel agents can embed a white label widget on their own website or have a complete website set up with New Zealand product and their own branding.
Itineraries are created from a stock tour. From there they are highly customisable to meet individual customers tastes. Most customers have at least one special request and require some details changed on their own personal itinerary.
Travellers can see their itineraries in full detail, including photo galleries and route mapping details. Customers can add and remove optional side trips and extra activities. They can communicate with their personal agent and see their itinerary and pricing update.
During their trip, customers can review their itinerary and get directions or help at any point.
For offline access we load the customers itinerary into a third party mobile application.
A Customer's holiday creates a plethora of back end activity for a travel agent, especially self drive holidays where customers are staying in many different towns and cities and doing a wide range of organised activities. New Zealand Fine Tours back end system, affectionately known as Trev, automatically generates travel documentation and vouchers for customers and manages invoicing and payments with suppliers.
These accounting items are automatically sent to though to the accounting system (XERO)
